The table was recorded by MESDA in 1979 ( S-9575) and included in Betsy Davison’s The Furniture of John Shearer 1790-1820 as Figure 26.2, page 175 where it was noted as whereabouts unknown at the time of publication.  The table displays the thick stock and stout construction characteristic of Shearer’s work.  The table top is nicely grained cherry while the legs are walnut with spade feet cut from the solid, as was Shearer’s normal practice. The end skirts have incised and dark dyed decorative Scottish thistles and dyed panel adorn each end.
