A fine example of a card table design with features characteristic of the best Boston work. – block corners, diminutive size, beautifully carved cabriole legs and ball and claw feet with the raking talon. A table of similar dimensions and form attributed to Benjamin Frothingham (1734-1809) is in the collection The Museum of Fine Arts Boston. A labeled Frothingham table is at Winterthur. Another similar table (but without knee carvings) appears in American Antiques from the Israel Sack Collection, Vol.VI, p. 1479. Original brasses and hinges.
