This classic stretcher base tables retains much of its original red-brown paint wash surface. The three board top is pinned to the frame and horizontally between the boards. The posts are hardwood, probably ash. The table descended in the White Family, long time residents of Windsor, North Carolina and for many years held pride of place in the family parlor. The table is closely related a larger group of stretcher tables in eastern North Carolina and Virginia, notably a similar table now in the Hope Plantation collection that was recorded by MESDA.
The table survives in excellent condition with its original stretchers and much of a very early, possibly original, painted surface. A 4″strip has been replaced on one side of the top has been professionally replaced.
