Early Tidewater Mixing Table
Yellow pine and Marble
Eastern Virginia or Northeastern North Carolina
Circa 1760
32″ W 21″ D 34.5″ H

The stretchers, molded and chamfered legs and form date this rare southern mixing table with marble top to circa 1760 or earlier.  The yellow pine base seems to retain its original red wash surface now darkened by old varnish. The marble top is supported by a medial brace and is framed within its original molding.  The yellow pine base is morticed and pegged and includes a medial brace.   The base appears to retain its original red wash now darkened by old varnish.  MESDA recorded a related stretcher table with a history in Northampton County in northeaster North Carolina similar chamfering.  MRF S-3753.
