Kettle Stand
Walnut
Tidewater Virginia – Peninsula area
Very early 19th century, c 1810
16″ x 16.5″ x 34″

Kettle stands are found only rarely in Virginia, or the greater South.  This example, in a fine old surface, has excellent height and a nice tray-molded top.  It was found between Richmond and Williamsburg along the James River.   The simplicity, tapered legs and deep rails suggest a very early origin in the Federal era.
