Circa 1740-1760
This early tea table is both sturdy and elegant. The carved recessed top ends in inset corners and is composed of nicely grained mahogany. All four sides feature aprons with tear-shaped drops below nicely shaped ogee rails supporting the top. The subtle profile of the cabriole legs begins with a suggestion of a chamfer and ends in slender slipper feet. All in all, a refined piece of British cabinetmaking of the period, beautifully proportioned.
