In the mid-1850s German artist Edward Beyer visited Virginia and painted a number of town, spa and landscape views. His collection was published in Germany as lithographs in 1857 and captured a mixture of Virginia’s Arcadian past and modern progress in the years just prior to the Civil War.
The print now has a museum quality frame.
