A handsome, robust “neat and plain” Federal sideboard from an Eastville, Virginia estate on the lower eastern shore just north of Cape Charles. The construction and form of this strongly rectilinear sideboard suggest that it was made by a craftsman who’s primary training was as a joiner, which was often the case on the sparsely populated eastern shore.
